Notes From the Road: Moscow Day 2 - 01/31/2009

On Saturday, His Grace, Bishop TIKHON, and His Grace Bishop BENJAMIN were led by Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky on a walking tour of two Orthodox parishes in the area close to the hotel in which the delegation is staying.

The Hierarchs arrived at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy in the
Church of Sts. Cosmas and Damian. The Rector of the parish, Father
Alexander Borisov, invited the delegation into the altar and offered a
guided tour of the parish. A lively discussion was held at a small
luncheon and the hierarchs visited the parish's Sunday school class.

The hierarchs also visited the Church of St Tatiana, which has also
been returned to the Church after having totally disfigured in times
past. The parish Rector, Fr. Maksim Kozlov likewise gave a tour to the
hierarchs and spoke of the parish's mission to Moscow University with which it is associated.

Later that day, Archimandrite Zacchaeus took the hierarchs to visit
the Theophany Cathedral where they venerated the relics of St Alexis
of Moscow and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This cathedral is
also the resting place for Patriarch Alexis II. Another stop was made
at the Donskoi Monastery where the relics of St Tikhon Patriarch of
Moscow were venerated,.

Later that evening, a Vigil was served at St Catherine's
Representation Church for the Sunday of Zacchaeus. Following the
Vigil, a dinner was held in honor of the name day of Archimandrite
