Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Supports Underprivileged Families for Holiday - 12/18/2014

The Faithful of Holy Trinity collected 20 boxes of food to donate to Monroe County Children and Youth Services this advent season.  Each box contained a substantial holiday meal built around either a turkey or a ham for an underprivileged family in our area.  The donation was made a week before Christmas so that Children and Youth Services had enough time to deliver the meals to these families.  But that’s not all.  In October, our Church School children organized a coffee hour bake sale where they raised $200.  Before the feast of Saint Nicholas, our Church School children took to the toy stores to purchase Christmas gifts for children identified by Children and Youth Services as economically poor and in need of Christmas gifts.  These gifts were included with the food donation.  Upon receiving the donations Stacie Gill, the Assistant Administrator for Monroe County Children and Youth Services expressed her gratitude to Father Nicholas and the Faithful of Holy Trinity with these words: We appreciate your enormous generosity and thoughtfulness for our clients.  May God continue to instill in our hearts the awareness to care for the needs of those in our families and communities.
