WRIGHTSTOWN, PA [DOEPA]

From April 11–12, 2025, Lazarus Saturday, His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania celebrated the Feast of the Raising of Lazarus at St. Mark's Church in Wrightstown, PA.

On Friday, April 11, upon arrival to the temple, His Eminence was greeted by Archpriest Raymond Browne, Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania and Rector. Father Raymond spent time with Archbishop Mark discussing various topics concerning the diocese and abroad.

Prior to Vespers and the Canon of St. Lazarus, David Phillipi was welcomed into the Orthodox Church through Chrismation. May God grant him and his sponsor, Jon, many years!

Vespers with the Canon of St. Lazarus was served by Father Raymond with Protodeacon Gregory Moser. His Eminence presided from the throne.

On Saturday, April 12, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Mark. Serving with Archbishop Mark were Father Raymond, Protodeacon Gregory Moser, and servers of the parish. The choir was led under the direction of Matushka Martha Moser.

His Eminence offered a moving homily on the significance of Lazarus Saturday as a prelude to Holy Week, reflecting on the promise of resurrection and the power of Christ over death. He encouraged the faithful to enter the coming days with repentance, hope, and renewed spiritual focus.

Following the dismissal, Archbishop Mark offered words of encouragement to Father Raymond, Matushka Heidi, and the faithful of St. Mark's Church. Father Raymond thanked His Eminence for his presence and wished him good strength for the remainder of his Holy Week travels throughout the Diocese.
