STEELTON, PA [DOEPA]
On Friday, December 19, 2025, the Old Calendar Feast of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, Dean of the Frackville Deanery, and Rector of Holy Apostles Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, and Nicholas Hojnicki, Director of Communications, attended the patronal feastday of St. Nicholas Serbian Church in Steelton, PA.
His Grace Bishop Irenej of Washington, New York, and Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church presided over the festal services. Concelebrating with His Grace were Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Ilija Balach, Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Priest Borjan Vitanov, and Priest Christopher Rocknage, Rector of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Steelton, PA, with Deacon Bojan Gligorevic also serving. Archpriest John Onofrey was also in attendance. The choir sang under the direction of Mrs. Nina Radonovic.
Following the Dismissal, those observing the Serbian custom of the "slava" in honor of Saint Nicholas participated in the traditional blessing of bread and wheat.
After the veneration of the Cross, a festal meal was held in honor of Bishop Irenej’s visit on the parish’s patronal feastday.
