WRIGHTSTOWN, PA [DOEPA]
Aorist Press has announced the release of the second printing of the Parish Book of Needs (Trebnik), a comprehensive liturgical resource designed to assist Orthodox clergy in addressing both common and less frequently encountered pastoral situations. A newly updated edition, offering practical guidance for a wide range of pastoral needs encountered in parish life, has been received on Great and Holy Friday and is now available for immediate purchase, reflecting careful editorial work alongside notable improvements in quality and accessibility.
The volume compiles newly redacted offices, prayers, and blessings rendered in Revised Liturgical English, providing a practical and accessible handbook for contemporary parish ministry. While foundational services such as Baptism and Holy Matrimony remain widely available, this edition includes services for more unique and sensitive circumstances, including prayers for difficult labor, services following suicide, blessings for adopted children, and an order for the blessing of airplanes and spacecraft.
The April 2026 printing introduces several physical enhancements, including a durable cloth-over-boards format with Smyth-sewn binding and two ribbon bookmarks to facilitate ease of navigation during services. The publisher has also reduced the price to $50 per volume (USD), plus shipping.
The Parish Book of Needs has received the blessing and approval for publication from His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. The volume was edited by Sergei Arhipov and Daria Cortése, both parishioners of St. Mark's Church in Wrightstown, PA. Aorist Press is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit Orthodox Christian publishing house dedicated to bringing “the Eternal in the words of today” in support of the Church’s missionary, educational, and research activities, producing high-quality liturgical and musical resources in Revised Liturgical English.
Among its initiatives, Aorist Press supports the building project of St. Mark's Church. Sergei Arhipov, a retired U.S. Army officer and former Head Librarian and Registrar at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, has devoted decades to the translation and refinement of Church Slavonic liturgical texts. Daria Cortése serves as Managing Director of Aorist Press and senior choir director at St. Mark’s Church in Wrightstown, PA, contributing extensively to Orthodox liturgical scholarship and musical education.
Orders for the volume may be placed through Aorist Press, with availability beginning immediately following its arrival. The publisher has also requested the continued prayers of the faithful as preparations are underway for several forthcoming publications, including the RLE Apostol and the second edition of Orthodox Daily Prayers, Hours & Typica, along with additional works currently in development.
This new edition stands as a valuable contribution to the liturgical life of the Church, equipping clergy to minister with care, precision, and pastoral attentiveness to the needs of the faithful.
