St. Tikhon's Monastery in Waymart, PA will host a Bellringing Education Weekend on October 4–6, 2019. Organized by New Creation Bellringing, the event consists of two lectures, a demonstration at the monastery belfry, and hands-on ringing lessons for students that have registered in advance.
On Friday, October 4, 7–9 pm, there will be a lecture, "The 5 Essential Elements of a Successful Bellringing Ministry." Intended for clergy, seminarians, and bellringers, it will equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to build a culture of serious church bellringing in their communities. On Saturday, October 5, at 10:00 am, there will be a lecture open to the general public, "The Liturgical Art of Bellringing in the Orthodox Church," which will provide an overview of the history, sounds, and methodology of Christian bellringing, focusing on the bellringing traditions of Orthodox Church. It will be followed by a demonstration at the Millennium Bell Tower. At Vigil and Liturgy in the monastery church, student bellringers who have studied during the week will ring the tolls and peals.
