Archpriest Stephen Shuga, 85, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2019. 
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA on June 23, 1934, he married the former Emily Kuzemchak on November 10, 1956 at the Church of Saint John the Baptist, Edwardsville, PA. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate and Holy Priesthood by the late Bishop Dmitri on December 19, 1956, and June 2, 1957, respectively. He graduated from Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, South Canaan, PA in 1957.
Father Stephen served parishes in Philadelphia and Hammond, PA, before being assigned to Saint Gregory Church Homestead, PA. where he served as rector for 57 years.  Upon retiring he was attached to the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky, Allison Park. PA. 
Father Stephen is survived by his wife, Matushka Emily.
The funeral service for a priest will take place at Saint Gregory Church, 214 East 15th Avenue, Homestead, PA. Visitation and service times will be posted as soon as they are announced. Interment will take place at the Monastery of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, South Canaan, PA. Please check the OCA website for upcoming dates and times for services.
