Blessing of the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg - 01/11/09

This past Sunday the local Orthodox Churches in Harrisburg assembled to bless the Susquehanna River. The event was organized by Fr. Stephen Vernak and Fr. Timothy Hojnicki. Instead of putting the traditional metal or wood cross in,  an ice holy water cross was thrown into the river to bless the waters. There were almost 100 people and five priests in attendance.  The event was covered by the local television station. The news clip can be seen here:
