St. John the Baptist Remembers the Fallen - 05/29/17

On a soggy Monday morning, May 29, 2017, the members of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Edwardsville, PA gathered at Memorial Park with friends and dignitaries from the community to celebrate their 3rd Annual Memorial Day Remembrance Service.  Parish Vice President Joseph Kaucher led the proceedings, with parishioner John Swetts, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, delivering stirring remarks regarding the meaning of Memorial Day. Edwardsville Mayor Bernard Dubaskas and Edwardsville Fire Chief Frank Slymock also spoke. Following remarks, a little Litya was served for all members of the armed forces who had given their lives. The choir led those assembled in patriotic selections, including God Bless America and the Star Spangled Banner.

Memory Eternal!
