On Sunday, September 17, following Divine Liturgy, the parish community of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Edwardsville, PA gathered for a lunch in Repella Hall. The luncheon was presented by the Sunday School, who held their first classes that day.
During the luncheon, Fr. George Volkovinsky was recognized for having completed the process for his Green Card. Also recognized were Fr. Michael Evans and Matushka Sonya, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. Matushka Sony and Fr. Michael were wed at St. John the Baptist 45 years ago on the very same date.
As the luncheon wrapped up, members of the FOCA chapter and Sunday School put together 48 “Disaster Recovery Kits” which will be sent to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) for disbursement during disasters.
