OYAA Winter Retreat - 02/12/10

The annual youth winter retreat organized by the Office of Young Adult Activities (formerly known as the Teen Activities Committee) was held on Friday, February 12 to Sunday, February 14, in Clarks Summit.  The theme of the workshops was relationships in the context of the Orthodox Christian Church.  Fr. Timothy Hojnicki, rector of Holy Apostles Mission and long time participant of diocesan youth activities, led two workshops on Saturday about how, as Orthodox Christians, we relate to one another, how to develop and foster healthy relationships, and to make good choices in an ever increasingly secular world. Teenagers and young adults face great challenges in society today and take on ever more responsibilities.  Retreats and other youth activities are, therefore, critical to the development of a sound support system of Orthodox Christians and to keep Christ at the center of young people's lives.

In addition to the workshops, the teenagers had fun going on hikes in the snow, playing basketball, and folk dancing!  Please stay tuned for more photos and videos of the retreat.....
