Holy Apostles visited by His Eminence, Archbishop Mark - 04/27/24
On Friday, April 26, the Eve of Lazarus Saturday, His Eminence, Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania presided over the Matins service at Holy Apostles Church in Mechanicsburg, PA. Following Matins, the exorcism prayers were said.
On Saturday, April 27, Lazarus Saturday, His Eminence, Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania served as the celebrant for the Baptismal Liturgy.
During the Baptismal Liturgy, the Community of Holy Apostles welcomed four new members into the Orthodox Church: Jonathan (John) Wilt, Landon (John) Morrison, and Dustin (John) and Katie (Olga) Bailey.
Serving with His Eminence were Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Rector of Holy Apostles Church, Mitered Archpriest Nicholas Molodyko-Harris, Attached to Holy Apostles Church and Archpriest Leonid Schmidt, Attached to Holy Apostles Church and Priest-in-charge of the Gettysburg Mission. Also serving were Deacon Peter Staller, Attached to Holy Apostles Church and the altar servers of the parish.
His Eminence offered the homily on the raising of Lazarus, Christ's love for Lazarus, and God's love for mankind.
Following the Liturgy, a breakfast was held in honor of the newly-illumined and their sponsors, family, and friends. The Community of Holy Apostles also had their annual parish clean-up in anticipation of Great and Holy Pascha and prepared palms and pussy willows for Palm Sunday.
