"Six Days of Creation" Icon Workshop

August 16 - Saturday, August 21, Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church
(Harrisburg, PA) hosted its second annual icon workshop featuring
master iconographer and instructor Xenia Pokrovskaya and her
daughter Anna Pokrovskaya Gouriev of Izograph Studios.
This year eight students were guided in the technical and theological
art of iconography, beginning each day with the daily Matins service.
The workshop is one of many organized throughout the year by the
non-profit Hexaemeron, whose mission it is to offer such
opportunities"for the beginner and the more experienced, who
desire to learn the ancient technique of icon painting in the
egg-tempera medium, according to Orthodox Church tradition and ethos."
Each of the students completed the course with a finished icon. We look
forward to welcoming Xenia and Anna, and whomever God calls - back
again next year (most likely the third week of August). Please
