His Eminence, Archbishop Mark Makes Archpastoral Visit to Holy Ascension Church - 07/21/24
On Sunday, July 21, the Feast of the Prophet Ezekiel, His Eminence, Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania presided over the services at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in Frackville, PA.
Serving with His Eminence was Priest Kirill Zawatski, Acting Rector of Holy Ascension Church, along with the parish servers. The choir was led under the direction of Mr. Andrew Rudenko.
His Eminence offered the homily, emphasizing that as Orthodox Christians, we are teachers. As Christians, we could be someone's only connection to Orthodoxy, so we must be able to teach about the faith to all and be an example of our faith in action.
Following the dismissal, the prayer for the blessing of vehicles was read, and a procession was held. Vehicles were blessed in honor of the feast of the Holy, Glorious Prophet Elijah (July 20). First responder vehicles from many neighboring towns lined the streets to be blessed, and vehicles in the church's parking lot were also blessed.
Following the blessing of vehicles, a meal was held in the church hall downstairs.
This visit marked the first Archpastoral visit with Priest Kirill as Acting Rector of Holy Ascension Church.
