Holy Apostles Mission pays off mortgage - 12/25/10

On Saturday, December 25, at the conclusion of the Liturgy on the Great
Feast of the Lord's Nativity, Holy Apostles Mission had a great surprise.
Due to the excellent stewardship of the faithful, our very successful
annual Fall Dinner Dances, and several VERY generous donations from
outside the parish, the mortgage on our present facility was paid off a
year early! It was decided to pay it off at the December Mission Council
meeting, and to keep it a secret until Christmas Day when the "Mortgage
Thermometer" (usually displayed in our vestibule) was wrapped up in a
festive package. With the help of the kids of the parish, Fr. Timothy
revealed the poster with the clear message: PAID IN FULL.
Holy Apostles Mission thanks God for His many gifts to their community, and pray that the
next step in their development, the start of a capital campaign, will begin
with His Divine blessing, to the goal of building or purchasing a more
permanent Church building for the growing Christ-loving community. Glory
to God for all things!

On Sunday, December 12, Holy Apostles held a Gingerbread Contest to raise
money for our "Help a Seminarian Fund". For a small donation every
participant was given a gingerbread kit with a week to complete it. On
the 12th, 10 Gingerbread Houses were displayed. They raised almost $250
toward the project. This was a great success and will become a yearly
event. Special thanks to Joseph and Abby Baia for organizing the event.
