Sitka Icon to Visit During Lent
Sitka Icon to make two stops in Diocese

The Sitka Icon of the Mother of God will visit our Diocese twice during Great Lent. It will first visit Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Mechanicsburg on Thursday, March 28th at 6:30pm for an Akathist service. The Icon will then visit St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Glen Mills on Sunday, March 31st at 4:00pm for an Akathist service.

The icon, painted by the Russian Iconographer Vladimir Lukich Borovikvsky in the late 18th century in the “Kazan” style, has had numerous miracles attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of Sitka. His Grace, Bishop Alexei will also offer presentations and homilies on the history of the Diocese of Alaska as well as its current needs.
